UNITED STATES BANKRUPTCY COURT
DISTRICT OF NEW JERSEY

NOTICE TO THE BAR AND PUBLIC
CONCERNING NEW FEE EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 2016

As an alternative to viewing records at a Federal Records Center (FRC) or having records shipped from an FRC to a court, a new service offered by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is known as “SmartScan,” and allows members of the public to request same day electronic delivery of a limited number of scanned pages of judiciary documents. SmartScan eliminates shipping costs and is ideal for small or urgent requests.

The forms are available on the Court’s web site, www.njb.uscourts.gov.

At its March 2016 session, the Judicial Conference of the United States Courts established a new fee for accessing records electronically from an FRC. The fee is $10.00, plus any charges by NARA. Currently, SmartScan fees charged by NARA to courts include a per page cost for transmission ($.65 per page), plus a fee to pull and refile records ($9.90). The new fee is effective June 1, 2016.

The revised Bankruptcy Miscellaneous Fee Schedule will be posted on the Court’s web site on June 1, 2016. For questions regarding these fees, please contact the Clerk’s Office
